Alisa says that elevator motor rooms are stocked the same way cableway stations are. We've seen several already, so we know that they can contain a lot of things besides the necessities (ropes, hooks, and lanterns): like medkits (Page 450), various junk left by their visitors (Page 445), honey (Page 165), warm cloaks (Page 71), and even camping supplies (Page 167).
The chamber the motor room is in used to be something else (something historically significant) before Anna's engineers got to it. We can still see the remains of cut cables, a ventilation shaft, and a mysterious window in the ceiling.
